Guthrie Oklahoma!
Howdy, from Guthrie! We are so happy to be here and finally begin our wanderings. The day was beautiful and sunny with little to no wind - whew! We rolled into Guthrie about 4:00 PM, found our park, set up, and located a great local bbq joint and tap house - Stables Cafe. Stables was originally a livery, flour, feed, and wagon yard that was built in 1889 (keep that date in mind - there is more from 1889 in the Guthrie area). Great food and beer. A couple locals recommended it and now we recommend it too! We will be here in Guthrie until Saturday morning, so look for more about this historic western town.
Fun fact about Guthrie: The town was founded, in part, as a result of the Land Run of 1889. 50,000 people participated in the run with hopes of securing and staking a claim of unclaimed Indian territory lands.
