Petroglyphs, a hike, and another half day off work :)

Not in that (above) order - lol. Friday, we took about a 3 mile hike, very close to our campsite, to some fantastic petroglyphs. WOW! To think about the people who lived in this rugged land so very long ago! We ventured into a shallow cave and saw a grindstone - blew my mind! The desert is so varied in its terrain. Everywhere we went seemed to be different and kept things fresh and interesting. There was some more recent graffiti etched into the rock as well. A couple of guys, one was "Frank" I think stayed in the cave in 1902 and left their mark. The cactus was beautiful and I was treated to a sighting of 2 small lizards. C' ya on the road! Julie

Mike was rocking out! LOL
I took a piece of my Dad with us; using these Diamond Willow waking sticks that he and I used to carve. They came in so handy and I think of him every time we hike with these sticks.
Grinding stone. There was also soot above this stone. Maybe Frank and his buddy used it for a fire?
I came around this big boulder and this little cactus seemed to be watching me!
Ancient handprint.
I wish I knew what they meant.
