What's summer in Nebraska without going to a rodeo!!!
In July, Mike, Nancy, & I went to the Stuart rodeo in Stuart, Nebraska. Fun times and lots of young, local cowboys & cowgirls - they put on a really good show!

I grew up going to rodeos. My Dad competed in the bull riding. My uncle and his sons did roping and my uncle Lawerence roped, team roped and was a pick-up man for many years. Wherever we lived in the US, if there was a rodeo, Dad was riding. Mike & I both really enjoy a rodeo and we even got to take my Mom to the Burwell Rodeo this summer. Nebraska Huskers volleyball Coach John Cook was the Grand Marshall of Nebraska's Big rodeo this year. It was fun to hear him talk about his ranch and his beautiful horses - one of which he rode in the Rodeo parade!

A diligent and watchful pick-up man at the Stuart rodeo. The pick-up men and rodeo clowns are vital to keeping the cowboys & cowgirls safe.
Stuart rodeo; bull rider & bull fighter - formerly know as rodeo clowns.
We had not been for many years. It was time and the stock, the cowboys & cowgirls, and the announcers were top notch!
Wild horse event at Burrell. This is an exciting event but very dangerous for both cowboys & horse.
This picture was not taken at any rodeo, rather on a back road Mike and I took while a lovely Sunday drive. I thought it fit with the horse theme. Aren't they gorgeous?
